YUKIHIRO YOSHIDA - MAKER, JAPAN

7' 4PC 2 TIP 3-4 WT

Custom-built rod from 2013. Serial #074. Weighs 2.9 oz.

Wrapped in black silks, cigar cork grip with blued nickel silver slide

band and butt cap with dark burled wooden reel seat. Mr. Yoshida frequently

traveled from Japan to attend the Somerset, N.J. Fly Fishing Shows

and has won many fans and admirers. His quest for perfection led him to build rods

from the time-honored Edo Wazeo style, to the more modern Marutake fly rods.

He also regularly offered conventional split-cane rods in 4, 5 and 6-strip configurations.

Although Mr. Yoshida would build with Tonkin if requested, his cane of choice was

Japanese Madake. The culms were always personally selected from an old grove to the

rear of his workshop. This rod is built in 4-pieces with two tips, and uses traditional bamboo ferrules,

and ferrule plugs. Also, the rod is tastefully finished with Japanese, "Urushi" lacquer.

The case is hexagonal, made from native, Paulownia wood, and the rod bag is green silk.

Delightfully smooth rod, with a medium fast dry fly action. Condition as new,

a very nice light small travel rod. An exceptional, high quality rod craftsman.  $2495.
